FUN FACTS ABOUT CBD

by | Jul 6, 2021 | News | 0 comments

CBD is now most commonly found in cannabis extract oil or as an isolated powder. CBD was first identified and synthesized by Roger Adams (39) when he revealed it to be one of many cannabinoids present within extracts from Indian Hemp plants – which are also known as Cannabis indica Linn. The scientist then became the first person to isolate & obtain pure crystalline samples of this compound called cannabidiolic, acid 42 years ago! Today there are 6500 registered growers with over 60,000 acres planted all across Colorado alone. In California we now have 655 licensed growers who cultivate close to 120,000 acres per year for our needs. By 2021, it\’s estimated that 20% more will need CBD.

Although CBD products have become very popular, there is still a lot of confusion and misinformation regarding CBD. Questions like are CBD products legal? Or is CBD an intoxicating compound? These questions remain in the minds of many people.

So, let’s try to answer these questions and get to some of the fun facts and health benefits of CBD:

  1. Is CBD Psychoactive?

CBD and THC don’t have the same psychoactive effects. CBD doesn’t produce the type of high that THC delivers. THC binds with the cannabinoid 1 (CB1) receptors in the brain, which produces a high or sense of euphoria.

CBD affects the mental processes of cognition and mood; CBD’s most well-known psychoactive effect is the calming feeling connected with the compound. CBD is, however, non-intoxicating, which means it doesn\’t produce the \”high\” of THC. THC is also psychoactive, but because its effects can leave consumers temporarily impaired, it is intoxicating. The non-intoxicating qualities of CBD are the reason why it’s considered a non-psychoactive cannabinoid. CBD has been used to help with anxiety, depression, and seizures.

CBD interacts with CB1 receptors; however, it does not bind to them. CBD interacts with the CB1 receptors, which are found on neurons and glial cells in the brain; the CB2 receptors are found in the immune system; this is why the health benefits and other effects of CBD are able to take place. Unlike THC, CBD does not actually bind to these receptors.

  1. CBD, derived from Hemp, is legal in all 50 States.

The passing of the 2018 Farm Bill, which removed hemp and hemp seeds from the DEA schedule of controlled substances, made it federally legal in all 50 States.  Hemp derived CBD contains less than 0.3% THC, far less than the amount needed to produce an intoxicating effect or \”high\”. So, if you want to take advantage of the benefits of CBD, you don’t have to worry about its legal status.

  1. Fun Historical Facts about CBD oil

According to the BBC, \”The use of cannabis is believed to stretch back 4,000 years. \”

\”Cannabis has been used as a medicine for thousands of years all over the world, including India, China and the Middle East.\”

Physician J.R. Reynolds, a physician to the royal household from 1878 until his death in 1896, recommended cannabis not only for migraine, epilepsy, depression, and asthma. He claimed in The Lancet, 1890, that cannabis \”when pure and administered carefully, is one of the most valuable medicines we possess\”.

It is believed that the invention of the syringe towards the end of the 19th century marked an end to its widespread medicinal use. People believed that by injecting drugs, the effects of the drugs would take effect faster. Since cannabis cannot be dissolved in water, it cannot be injected.

The arrival of other drugs, such as aspirin, also contributed to the reduction in the drug\’s use.

  1. Researchers have found CBD oil to have many positive effects on people suffering from a variety of health problems.

There is ongoing research on the potential medicinal use in pain relief, acne prevention, controlling epileptic seizures, anxiety relief, etc. Also, many people use it to relieve pain and inflammation, anxiety and epileptic seizures.

EPIDIOLEX is the first and only FDA approved prescription cannabidiol (CBD). It is approved to treat seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS), Dravet syndrome, or tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) in patients 1 year of age and older.

  1. CBD is being used to alleviate women’s health issues.

Women have been using CBD to help alleviate symptoms related to menstrual periods to control menstrual pain, reduce bloating, and stabilize mood.

CBD was first identified & isolated by Roger Adams in 1940. This United States chemist then became the first person to extract a CBD isolate in 1942. Today in Colorado alone, it is estimated that there are 6,500 registered hemp farmers & over 60,000 acres of planted hemp; in California there are 655 licensed hemp farmers with roughly 32,000 acres of cultivated hemp plant. In 2021, CBD will have reached consumer sales of 1,615 million dollars. To become an affiliate in the CBD industry, go to www.solverraholistics.com/affiliate/.
